Are we back to trinity yet?
« on: March 26, 2003, 10:11:48 PM »
Since using the Trinity terrain, many of these other terrains seem pretty useless.

Trinity has pretty much everything one could want IMHO. Trinity offers every thing present in the other terrains , yet the other terrains don't offer 1/2 of what Trinity has. So why still use them?

For instance, no other terrain has the "tank playground" for those who just wana log on and unwind with some instant tank action.

If you can`t find action on Trinity , you need to turn your chair around 180 degrees, face the puter,  and get on with it. Trinity is nonstop action. :D

Love Trinity. You can almost always fing good fights there, and avoid the senseless gang-bangs.

guess everyone has a different idea of what "action" is.  flying a sector and ahalf is not "action" to me.

True ... but then this is not an "action game". It's a simulator.

Ok sclotz... I'll bite... what are we "simulating"?   If we are simulating the boredom of WWII air combat then we are doing a poor job since we should go weeks or entire years never seeing the enemy... The greatest amongst us should have maybe 300 kills for lifetime records...

If we are simulating WWII combat then we are doing a piss poor job since we are not fighting historical matchups and.... I have never seen historical formations or tactics in this or any other arena.  soooo....

We are most likely simulating WWII aircraft, their flight models, gunnery and, the damage that said gunnery causes.   If this is what we are 'simulating" then let's cut the crap and get to the good parts.

While I may have detail disagreements with Lazs, he is 100% spot-on as to what the MA should be.

The upcomming "mission theatre" should do a better job of appealing to those who want a more "realistic" environment.

Trinity is boring. I can deal with having one enormous, boring map at a time (like pizza in the pre-infinity days). But two of these monstrosities? God no.

I plan to cancel my account at the end of this month because of this infinity map.

the upcoming arena should be interesting... HT tends to have his finger on the pulse... I can't figure out how it will work but I bet he can.

I do know this tho... if he let's the people on this board who cry for "realism" and "historical" have any say in it then it will be one lonely arena with a whole lot of blame and finger pointing.

trinity is ok...the way based are captured and recaptured is pretty cool. tall mountains are OK IMO as well...what's the use of mountains if they're so easy to cross?as for eternal flying between fields, just set autoclimb and have a coffee :)

Well lazs2, we are actually simulating a grand strategy game, with airfields and strat targets, not a furball paradise where you pres alt-s and skip to the fighting part. If all you want to do is fight (nothing wrong with that btw.) then the MA is not for you in its current state. I must concur with J_A_B, when AH2 comes along I will prolly only fly in the TOD. Hopefully you guys will get a MA more to your liking then, but until that time the MA must cater to both groups of players.

(Btw. its Scholz not Sclotz ;))

we are "simulating" a game?   Which "grand strategy game" are we 'simulating' in your opinion schlotz?

If there were closer fields how would that keep you from flying any way you like?

We are simulating a war of sorts are we not?

Closer AF's mean bigger fights (or gang-bangs) at lower alt's. I like Trinity because I can take of and climb and search for a good fight (less than 10 planes) and not get ganged so much. Usually takes 15-20 minutes from I roll, just the way I like it. On the smaller maps it is very hard to find a fight that I like.

Btw. you still got the name wrong, but you're getting close. I know it's hard. ;)
